Professional Development for Early Childhood Educators

Learning Connections provides PD for Early Childhood Educators by training educators in the Learning Connections Early Years Program.

Learning Connections Early Years Learning Program is a specially designed Professional Development for Childcare workers, Early Childhood Educators, Kindergarten teachers and other people who work with young children from childcare through to grade two.

The Learning Connections Early Years Program is similar to the Learning Connections School Program, however it focuses on the early years of development and what is most important for children at this early stage of life. The PD training program equips educators with tools to help groups of young children. The program gives educators practical tools including:

• An easily implemented classroom program that benefits all children and
• Specific strategies to improve children’s concentration, listening, learning and behaviour

All children develop at different rates. Many children show differences in the rate of their skill development but red flags are frequently evident from a very young age. There are almost always underlying causes for speech delays, socialisation difficulties, coordination problems and the behaviour problems that can affect young children.

Children can be helped to develop skills in these areas through fun activities designed to stimulate input to the brain through the sensory systems. By using the primary movement program included in the Learning Connections Early Years training, teachers quickly see the difference in children’s behaviour once they start the program.

This Educator Professional Development Program is effective for:

• Sensory processing difficulties
• Behavioural difficulties
• Speech and language delay
• Spelling and maths difficulties
• Auditory processing, listening and concentration difficulties
• Social difficulties
• Reading problems
• Impulsivity, short attention span, difficulty following directions
• Clumsiness and poor coordination
• Poor handwriting and organisational skills
