Learning Programs
A growing body of neuro-scientific research supports the proposition that the continued presence of
Primitive Reflexes beyond the normal age of inhibition plays a significant role in learning difficulties.
Primitive Reflexes provide signposts of central nervous system immaturity. It is possible to promote maturity and to
detect and correct minor dysfunctions in the central nervous system through the use of specific movements.
There is an underlying sequence of motor development and as retained primitive reflexes are inhibited, and sensory motor function improves,
the delays that are at the root of the majority of learning difficulties are modified resulting in improved learning.
Learning Connections provides specific learning activities as part of their holistic approach.
The majority of children will initially become more successful learners when exposed to more specific right brained, kinaesthetic and
tactile learning activities in conjunction with their Learning Connections program. As the child's immaturities (that are the cause of
their learning difficulty) are overcome, Learning Connections' specific learning strategies create success.
Learning Connections draws on their wide range of experience and activities specifically designed to the individual’s needs to promote improved learning.
Sensory Motor Maturation Programs
enhance the ability of the child to process sensory information. With maturation and improved central nervous system organisation
children develop the foundations necessary for attention and learning. They are then able to organise their hands, body and mind to effectively
express their knowledge and organise themselves for motor learning tasks.
Sound Therapy Programs
when used in conjunction with Learning Connections Program can play an important role in overcoming learning difficulties,
attention, listening, auditory processing and sequencing problems, and improve both speed of auditory and visual processing.
Visual Therapy
Many children have signs of visual immaturities. They may be reluctant to draw and engage in paper-pencil activities in their Prep year. When older, they may miss words and lines when reading. Visualisation activities, when used in conjunction with a Learning Connections Program help children improve visual attention and learning.
Tutoring Programs
When retained primitive reflexes and sensory processing immaturities have been addressed through our programs, children are able to benefit more fully from tutoring programs. Learning Connections provides individualised programs with specific, age appropriate learning strategies to assist children to gain the confidence and skills needed to achieve success.
